If you think you've found a bug post it here.

So you agree that it is OK to plunge into the workpiece and sit there :o

I believe the thought is that it's safer to give you one last chance to stop, then to push the button and then see what happens.
I kinda agree with this thinking. I also believe that if you are going to use run from here, you'd want to go back and start at the beginning of the operation, where this becomes a non issue.

Agree to disagree :D

I sometimes want to cut part of a progam, I don't want to plunge into my workpiece and sit there, I want it to work the same as starting from the beginning.
My mill (Planet) start from any line and also runs the spindle, if it was called at the start of the program.
My router (Estlcam) ditto

When you select start from any line one presumes it means what it says, not start from where you left off
Why not give the option in the presented menu to pause before plunging or after plunging - everybody happy :D

Vmax549 wrote:You are not suppose to blindly dive into a RFH. YOU as the operator are required to KNOW where the machine is going to make the first point of contact on the restart. It will always be the position of the line just before the requested line. Also the RFH panel tells you that as well and gives you the option to start the spindle . IF you have any dought as to if it is safe to go there you should jog there ahead of time to see IF it is safe to do so. MOST of the time on a restart I lower the FRO to a point where the machine will barely move and let it creep into position. That gives you a chance to decide if it is safe before contact. The last cycle start move is just another last chance to NOT proceed with the restart.

Comparing the CycleStart at the beginning of a program to RFH is apples and oranges . But even then at the beginning you had BETTER know where the first point of contact is going to be (;-)

Just a thought, (;-) TP

Just a point of view :D

So I am cutting 22 slots in a hardwood fretboad with a 0.5mm cutter, so a fairly long program timewise, cutting slot 21 I notice that the cutter is broken (Very surprised :D ).
So you want me to go back to the start

On my Mill I can right click on a line and choose goto XY, I can then jog down and check where the tool is, If OK I back off and choose run from here, so m/c runs from there and knows whether the spindle was programmed to run and at what speed. :D

No, start on the rapid move before the tool broke. Don't start mid cut.
