Cutter comp and changing work offset issues

Postby Adam Webb » Wed May 04, 2022 7:11 am

Hello,

(Cutter Compensation)
I am using the AXBB-E Motion controller, Overall I am very impressed with it and UCCNC.

The first little problem a ran into was using the tool radius compensation (G41)

The first time it is called for after start up it isn't reading it, the G41D1 shows in the MDI active codes, but cuts the hole oversized. After stopping the program, rewinding and running again, it reads it and works fine.
A little work around for now is, I have put in a dummy operation before any tool using cutter comp to cut air and then perform M0.

( Changing G58 - G59 )
I am machining two parts at a time and have set them to G58 and G59. When G58 is finished I move to Z10. call G59, but it stays on G58. The display shows its now on G59 but it goes back down in the same position.

I have found that performing an X move fixes this, but surely it should change after getting to a safe Z.

Could both issues be the same, in that it needs more time to read the codes?

I appreciate any help with these little issues.

Kind Regards,

Adam

For the second issue, you have to do an X or Y move after changing the offset. Otherwise, you're expecting the machine to move when there are no movements in the code. You don't ever want that to happen.

Can you post some sample code for the comp issue?

Hi Gerry,
Thank you for the reply.
What I mean about the offset change is that I am having to use and X move before offset change for it to work

(MACH 3 )
G1 Y-16.
G90 G0 Z10.
M5

G59

T2 M6
G59 G90
G0 X-28. Y6.35

(UCCNC)
G1 Y-16.
G90 G0 Z10.
M5
G0 X5.

G59

T2 M6
G59 G90
G0 X-28. Y6.35
