Feedrate for some toolpaths

Postby Battwell » Sun Jul 18, 2021 9:15 pm

Trying to work out why some shapes with gentle curves slow down so much?
A square programmed at 10m/ minute feedrate runs at 10m
A circle runs at correct feedrate.
An oval programmed at 10 m struggles to max at 3m. ( 1000mm oval so no tight turns)
I have tried loosening up the cv settings but not getting correct feeds still.
Getting same results on a few different machines .

How is the oval programmed? Is it two arcs and two straight lines?

Have you tried it in simulation/off-line mode?

You have a sample program(s) I can test for you?

I can run samples in demo mode and/or on a big router/plasma and see what I get. Please include your CV settings. I'll do the conversion and run it on an inch-unit setup.

the planner struggles with arcs, junctions with arcs

it seems (to me who knows nothing ) that the planner can use the corner error max setting for linear to linear motion, but seems to slow down more for arc to arc motion or linear to arc or arc to linear motion
