Touch plate problem

Postby yagodajm » Thu May 24, 2018 1:43 am

Hello,
I was trying to set up my touch plate, I put the thickness of the plate in the M31 macro. When I ran the program, the bit came down hit the plate, retracted, came back down slower hit the plate, retracted a little than rammed back into the plate. I had to hit the stop, I can figure out what the problem is, any ideas?

Thanks,
Justin

Hello Justin,

The most important: could you upload the M31.txt for us to check?

Hello,
I am currently using version 1.2047. I uploaded two M31 files, the first one is just the on that comes in UCCNC, this on touches off twice and then goes Z plus and then just grinds the motor. The second file labeled M31 (2) is one that I got from Peter over at CNC NUTZ, I changed the thickness of my touch off plate and that is it. On this one it touches off twice and them goes Z negative and grinds the motor. I get the samething when i am in the screenset 2017 and try and return to zero, the Z negative rams into my work piece and keeps grinding. I am not sure what is going on.

thanks,
Justin

What do you mean by "grinds the motor"?

Hi
just out of curiosity is the z going in the right direction ie 0 going minus should be down when you say grinds do you mean staling and missing steps

thanks, Andrew

The motor for the Z axis just keeps driving until I hit the e stop. All the motors drive in the right direction on all other runs. I am not sure if I am missing something one the M31 macro or not.

Thanks,
Justin

Do you mean the Zsafe height in uccnc or in the M 31 macro?

Hi Terry,
SafeZ is set in both macros to a constant, not the configured value.

Justin,
Is you machine configured to inches? The original M31 works fine for mms, but you have to change the SafeZ to match you machine. The other M31 also works as I read it, but I didn't have time to test it. (Maybe, today...) What is the range of your Z axis in machine coordinates? I assume, you home the axes on startup, am I right?

All,
Ok, so I was on the machine today and looked at some of the settings, I noticed that when I home the machine (which is to the back right corner and Z all the way up) all axises zero out except Z, it has a machine cord of 50.000. I took some screen shots to see if anyone notices anything wrong with my settings.

Thanks,
Justin
