Stepper Motor thud/hiccup/stutter

Ok. I think its my PC... take a look at the pic of my screen. Just sitting idle, the latency is around 15ms. If i start jogging the machine, it goes off the chart or very close to it.

That is definately not good and can be the reason for the problem.
It should look something like on the attached pictures.
One picture is when in idle and the other is when Cycle started and running a g-code file. The spikes are when the Cycle start is pressed and the cycle is started to run the g-code file.

Please check your network card drivers, I mean to try to update the drivers. Possibly look up the type of it and download the drivers, because just pressing "update drivers" often not updating it because if the drivers were not installed then Windows is using somekind of default unoptimal drivers and it has no idea what is the type of your card, so it is unable to automatically download and update it.

And if you running the controller not with direct connection, but via router(s) then check if things change if you change to direct connection without inbetween routers and if things get solved then (graph normalises) then check your network and the settings in your router(s) etc.

Ok great! This PC will be at the dump soon then. I will try my laptop asap and see if I have the same issue. It is a windows 10 laptop... I could also just buy a newer desktop if laptops are not recommended.

There's no problem with laptops. I relegated all desktops from my house. Now I use UCCNC on 2 laptops and a tablet, all Windows 10 x64.

Right. When it will be time to replace my desktop it will be a laptop. Regarding computer power, even a cheap old laptop is OK for UCCNC, that's for sure, but for 3D design software and 3D slicing and printing, my HP 6470b laptop is a bit slow, especially if I want to print with preview. Never the less, my next PC will definitely be more than enough. The only "issue" with laptops is the disk space... I have 8TB (4 x 2TB) in the desktop, so I will need a separate box for the hard drives.

Perhaps you have a bad wire/connection somewhere... maybe a new PC is not the solution because it may not be the source of the problem. UCCNC does not need a lot of computing power, so you can in principal, run it on anything.

In many cases when I have experienced a "thud" it was static discharge. Usually resulting from machine motion that caused the dust collection hose to come in contact with a portion of the machine frame or stepper wires

Ok, just to update CNCDrive (thank you all for the help thus far), I am directly connected to the UC300ETH-5LPT. I will check again on the network card driver, but I actually installed that card new several months ago and have not used my machine a ton since then. I believe the driver is whatever one came on the disk supplied with the network card.
