Direction is changing and different from Mach3

Postby tpgolf » Sat Sep 02, 2017 12:36 pm

Good Morning,

I'm brand new to UCCNC, yesterday, and trying to get a feel for it before I try and cut something. I created a new profile and imported my Mach3 xml file in to it.
Everything seemed to be just fine. I jogged the axis around a bit and it all seemed to work just like Mach3. I enabled the camera plugin, started jogging it and now the X axis is moving in reverse.
When I hit the up arrow the DRO goes positive but the axis is now moving backwards. I tried clearing and resetting the hotkeys with no luck.
I can set the axis dir to low and it works but it shouldn't be that way. It worked fine when I started but something changed and I can't get it back.

Appreciate any comments

Thanks,
Joe

The only thing which really changes the axis positive movement direction is the Active low setting of the Direction signal of the axis.
Ofcourse you may also change the hotkeys buttons and could for example exchange the keys to jog left and right, that will not change the positive running direction, only the hotkeys are reversed then, so the only thing which changes is which key causing the axis to jog left and right, but this is not the same as the positive axis movement direction, that not changes with changing how the hotkeys are assigned.

The camera plugin does nothing with the axis positive direction and also does nothing with the hotkeys, it just shows the camera image in a window.

I understand and it makes no sense to me either and I can't explain why it happened other than it changed immediately after I enable and tried using the camera to make sure the axis was calibrated.
I uninstalled/ reinstalled the software, recreated the profile from Mach3 and now have to set the X & A (slave) to low on the Dir to get it work properly.
Why would this change from Mach to UCCNC? Nothing changed in the hardware and I'm 100% positive that when I first started jogging around with it everything went in the correct directions and low was not set on the axis.
It's not a big deal at this point as it seems to be working with Dir set to low - just curious.

Another quick question: I don't have an estop switch set up and in Mach I just assigned the escape key as a hotkey. How do I do that with UCCNC?
When I hit escape now it seems stops things but doesn't activate the "reset" button on the bottom. Again not sure if this will be an issue, just trying to get comfortable with it and making sure I don't crash it.

Thank you,
Joe

Mach3 has more than one way to reverse an axis, so the same settings in UCCNC can result in the opposite direction, depending on your other Mach3 settings.

Go to the Hotkeys page and you can assign hotkeys to just about anything.
