Saving Settings window stuck1.2039

Postby paulcc » Tue Jun 13, 2017 12:44 am

Whenever I save settings in V 1.2039, the green Save settings banner is displayed and does not go away. While in this condition, no other operations are possible. The only way to clear this condition is to close UCCNC and restart. After the restart, the changed setting are indeed saved. Does anyone have any ideas about the cause and possible solution?

I looked through the save settings code and I do not see anything which could possibly cause this issue.

I've made a test exe for you in which I removed the Save settings green label, so it will not show up.
Please test this and let me know if the issue is still there with this exe or not?
This test can clarify if it is a GUI issue or something else in the Save settings procedure.

Just replace the UCCNC.exe file in your UCCNC installation. Do not rename the file.

He's using my 2017 Screenset, if that makes a difference.

Gerry, and in your screenset your Save settings button calls a macro or the button simply has the built in Save settings button code?

Some anti-virus programs can cause this to happen.

The modified version of UCCNC without the popup box did not hang up the applications and did save changed settings when first run. However after restarting the computer and UCCNC, the issue has returned. BTW, I am using Win7

Gerry, this change has not affected the pin/port issue we discussed. Note that the UCCNC standard screenset will accept the pin/port assignment inputs.

Thanks Paul.
Now I know that it is somekind of a GUI problem, but I don't know what exactly and I'm not able to reproduce it here and checking through the code I still don't see anything.
So, I put the label show and hide code back to the app and changed a few things a bit and added a try/catch block to this particular code with a MessageBox,
so in case the code generates an exception then you will see a Messagebox showing the exception message.

I've uploaded the test exe file to the same link as previously.

Just replace the UCCNC.exe file in your UCCNC installation. Do not rename the file.

Could you please test this and let me know if it freezes the app. or not and if you get any error messages?

And by the way what Operating System you running?

I am using Win7 SP1. I installed the new .exe file and observed the replacement of the green popup. The behavior is unchanged from the original 1.2039 - hanging once the "Save Settings" is invoked.

I appreciate your attention to this issue and will continue to work with you to resolve it. I hope this process results in some benefit to the community.
