UCCNC freezez with Windows 10

Postby Raider192 » Fri Jun 09, 2017 11:29 am

Hello,
I recently switched over to Windows 10 from Windows 7. Right away I noticed UCCNC started lagging. I ran a small test program and everything worked fine at the time. Over the course of I few days UCCNC started to lock up when I would load a new program. I thought my post was throwing out a bit of code UCCNC didn't like so I stripped out every bit of code the software didn't need and then it would work for a short time and lock up. I downloaded and clean installed UCCNC and still locked up. Once this happened I then loaded the original "Test" program that ran fine, now started to lock up. I decided the issue was caused by upgrading to windows 10. I then reinstalled Windows 7 and since then everything seems to be working properly. Is this is a known issue? I read on an older post that there was a old security update that caused this but I read there was a workaround In a previous UCCNC update.
Thanks for your help

There is no known problem with Windows 10. On specific hardware was a video problem, but it is worked around, so now it must work fine. (I also use Windows 10 x64.) I think there was some driver problem or some unwanted program. Try a clean Windows 10 install with all drivers. What kind of computer do you have?

If your talking about the issue with integrated graphics, UCCNC 1.2039 has a fix for that.

Been running UCCNC since last year and never experienced any problems which could be related to W10. You must have some other issues, not related to UCCNC directly.

The topic in that thread is "Is there any known advantage of a 64 bit PC over a 32bit PC with UCCNC and it controllers ??"

So what exactly you think your problem is? W10 64bit is definitely not an issue since that is what I am using on several computers and none of them cause me any headache.

It has to be my onboard intel hd 4000 GPU... I tried it with another pc with the same onboard GPU.. And the same problem. I loaded UCCNC on an old pentium 4 with xp and the same programs run smoothly. I then installed Windows 7 on the original PC and like magic it all works like intended.. There has to still be bugs with the intel HD 4000 GPU's... 2 different PC's with 2 different version of windows 10 and the same GPU is probably not a coincidence. Every machine I encounter in industry either runs in the background xp/7 or some sort of linux OS... Kinda figure it will be some time before all software will run smooth with 10 and all the drivers out there for the hardware. The company I work for will not switch to any new OS cause this problem would cost them millions of dollars an hour with down spindles.

Windows 10 middle-March Cululative update and the Creators update have the same OpenGL bug for some Intel HD integrated graphics cards (We know about the 4000 series so far) which caused a slowdown and lagging issue for the UCCNC, however we've worked around that bug in the version 1.2038 of the UCCNC.
If you running UCCNC version 1.2038 or later and you still have this issue then it has to be something else.
It may be that the video card does not have enough memory VRAM. If it is an integrated card then it is likely using shared video memory "stealing" the VRAM from the system RAM, so the RAM may be too small, that can cause slowdown problems, because then OpenGL will start continously copying images from RAM to VRAM which will take to much CPU time slowing down the application.
This is likely to be the case if the issue only happens when g-codes are loaded.
With the mentioned Windows bug the lagging always happens even if no g-code is loaded into the UCCNC, the bug causes the lagging from startup of the software.

It's greatly appreciated!

Some BIOSes support changing the video memory size. You should check if your BIOS does.
