Threading Issue

Postby musgrave » Tue Feb 11, 2025 11:53 pm

Trying to turn inch threads .750 x 16tpi using the G33 with the K parameter of .0625 which is the correct pitch for 16tpi but the result coming off the lathe is 8tpi.
I have tried every setting that I can think of within UCCNC Turn but still keep getting a 8tpi thread.

Wondering if anyone might have some suggestions as to why it will not turn the correct pitch.

Using version 1.2117 UCCNC Turn with the AXBBE control.

Have tried to use the G76 but unfortunately the post for my software will not put out the correct code parameters for UCCNC Turn so that is why I am using the G33 which has all the correct parameters for UCCNC Turn except for the angle of penetration (Q), been switching over from Mach3 which did not need the (Q) parameter so I am assuming UCCNC Turn does not either.

Probably the encoder counts setting is not good. The motion controller reads the encoder is 4x (quadrature) mode.
Check it with manually turning the spindle while a G33 code is active and the spindle is off and measure the movement with a caliper.

That was the problem. After setting the encoder count properly, the machine will now cut correct threads
