UR201 sudden movement

If you think you've found a bug post it here.

It's been a bit since I checked in and as far as I can tell there's so far not much comment from the vendor. Not sure they're interested in looking into. But today, I had a new weird thing happen that relate to this.

UCR201 was set on the Y axis, velocity mode, 10% and when turning the MPG for Y- instead the Z- moved and Y remained stationary. Yes that's right: it moved the wrong axis despite showing it was selected! Then shortly after my brief panic and hitting stop the Y moved + and - a few steps randomly (inconsistent with what was commanded on the UCR201). It was all too quick to make the vendor a video. It happened while at the far end of my table where the connection wasn't the best and around this time the "no connection" message popped up a few times.

Aside from this, keeping the MPG mode to OFF has resolved the phantom movements. This stuff is only happening when the MPG is enabled.

Is there any form of error checking taking place on the commands from the UCR201? I can't help but think there's something wonky going on with the signal.

It's been awhile so I figured I might as well drop back in with a quick update. Since switching to velocity mode and shying away from using step (also turning the the MPG Mode to OFF when not in use) it hasn't made any phantom movements. I do regularly see the "no connection" message pop up which will cause the continuation of movements if it happens in the midst of using the mpg, but I can work around that for now. I'm not quite to the bottom of it but I'm currently thinking it may have something to do with the 5v power to the receiver. I have it on an active extension to get it up in line of sight with the pendant. Thank you for the earlier suggestions mickecarlsson, they ended up helping me out a ton here!

I am having a similar issue. For me the random movement is more likely to happen when a large bluetooth speaker in the next room is being used and the volume is turned up.

I also have a lot of lost connection error.

I didn't any directions on how to fix these errors.

Hi Kirk, I also have nearby wireless devices... perhaps you're onto something when you mention Bluetooth, which I believe is ~2.4Ghz. Does anyone have details on what frequencies this pendant uses?

The only thing I've found so far that has been helpful is using only velocity mode and turning the MPG mode to off (thank you to an earlier poster who suggested this) before moving it around. That has limited the distance of the spontaneous movements but not eliminated them entirely.

I have had these strange movements since I got my UCR201 a few months back.

If the screen shuts down on the UCR201 and I just hit one of the side mounted buttons on the UCR to awaken it again I get around 13mm of movement of the axis that is selected. Lets say it has cost me a few 1,5mm endmills

I have tried to wait a few seconds more after the screen shuts down and then I dont have the udden movement of the axis.

I have the same exact issue. The screen shuts down, then I quickly press a button to keep it on, and the machine does a rapid with the last axis selected!!! This is scary, because I don't know if and when I can use the pendant.
This is using the last uccnc 1.2113

Now I'm currently using the 1.2117 version and I think the issue has been resolved. :D
Still there is an issue that freezes some of the buttons of the UCR201, but a reset solves it.
I'm not sure when it happens, I'll have to pay more attention before opening a bug report. :geek:

Silly question but how does one determine the version currently installed? When I click on the executable and check the details it shows version 1.0.0.0. On the screenset I've been using I don't see the version displayed under diagnostics, help, or configuration.

UCCNC Version 1

Today I had the software randomly go crazy again on me. After waking the UCR201 (nothing running, just getting ready) the feed and spindle speeds started to jump around from 6% to 200% without touching anything. The Y axis started to move around at roughly 10% speed a few inches +/-. Assuming the UCR201 was at fault I decided I would unplug the USB dongle just to see if the changes stopped. They did not. Instead it sent Y moving in Y+ indefinitely (again with no program running, no cycle start) and the only thing that stopped it was the on screen reset button. Resetting it using this button caused the random movements, feed speed, spindle speed to stop jumping around and I was able to start another cycle. During all this it didn't lose position and I didn't need to restart the software or computer, only reset in UCCNC.

At this point I genuinely do not know what to do about it. It happened with the UCR201 unplugged so I'm not exactly sure that's the cause anymore. Might be interesting to know that as this happened the UCR201 would randomly disconnect. On the screen it would appear as though it's connected, but sometimes hitting start would display the 'no connection' message for a split second. Waiting a second or moving slightly and hitting it again usually did the trick, but that also seems a little silly given it was about 5 feet and in clear line of sight from the dongle.

Check that out. It does pop up for me when I open it, but it's just for a split second and really easy to miss it. You're right it does also exist under help I somehow overlooked the about section.

Now for the second mystery, I'm on v1.2115 and you mention v1.2117. But the website at https://cncdrive.com/UCCNC.html says the current version is 1.2113. How do I get my hands on the potentially fixed newer version(s)? edit: found a thread at https://www.forum.cncdrive.com/viewtopi ... 0&start=50 let's see how this goes.
