Drive train Pulses

Postby Graham90 » Wed Oct 23, 2024 2:33 pm

I looked for a heading that said dumb questions but could not find one, so...

OK my Proxxon ff500 has a direct coupled stepper motors on x and y that have 1600 pulses per rev and a pitch of screw of 4mm so for 1mm of travel I need 400 pulses?

On the z axis the stepper motor is coupled via a toothed belt and the ratio is 1:2, 2 being on the screw which also has a 4mm pitch, so does that mean I now have 800 pulses per 1mm on this axis?

Next question. Using the Z axis as an example, as it is easier for me to visualize, if the limit switch is at the op of the the travel of say 200mm do I set the soft limit 200mm or zero?
