setting a distance to move in the jogging window

Postby thegreatwaldo » Tue Mar 14, 2017 11:38 am

Hi would it be possible to have a tab in the jogging window to move a specific inputted distance (winpcnc has this feature)? say for example move router 10 cm in x + dirrection. This would be triggered by a button and not an external mpg controller.

Cheers

Just set jogging to step mode, enter "100" in the step increment DRO (100mm = 10cm), and click the jog button.

Thanks Ger

I'll try that when I get home this evening.

Be careful with that... if you are not alert you can easily forget and smash into something. But of course, if that's what you want it is easy. Personally I'd be scared to do that, especially with such large distances.

Hi Ger

I tried to set the step distance to 100 but it jumped back to the step distance setting in the dro above the step button also moves very slowly. Am I setting the correct box. using ver 1,2033 Using a x-box controller movement is fast per normal. Any help gratefully accepted. Using a UC100.

I see that the DRO is limited to a max of 10. You can change it to allow higher numbers with the screen editor.
I believe that the step jog moves at the feedrate in the Fset DRO.

Hi Ger

I managed to change the DRO but the feed rate is still very low and the Fset button doesn't seem to be adjustable by clicking on it. it's just set on 6. The sytem in winpcnc usb has a move jog box with fields where the user just inputs a distance (units are selectable as well as direction) I just need this kind of setting to cut simple slots or box cutouts on the fly. Any ideas ?

Cheers

You have to set the speed with the F word for the step jogging instead of the current JRO or Shift key.
(It's a new feature, but I personally really hate it. :( As old CNC users say, it is in the same way on factory CNCs.)

Pretty much as GOOD as it gets ;)

Hi Vmax

I'll give that a try tomorrow, it's been a long day. Thank you.
