Wiring of AXBB-E and DELTA ASD-B3 servo drive

Postby fdeporte » Sun Feb 11, 2024 6:31 pm

Hello everyone,
I used to mount stepper motors on my machines and would now like to switch to DELTA ASD-B3 servomotors. On the DELTA open-collector wiring diagram, I can see that the driver B3 pulse inputs are 24V, while is non isolated output 3 are only 5V. Is it to connect the driver to port 1 ?
https://filecenter.deltaww.com/Products/download/06/060201/Manual/DELTA_IA-ASD_ASDA-B3_UM_EN_20231025.pdf page 3-81.
DELTA proposes another wiring method using a line driver with a better frequency, but I don't know if the AXBB-E board is compatible.
https://filecenter.deltaww.com/Products/download/06/060201/Manual/DELTA_IA-ASD_ASDA-B3_UM_EN_20231025.pdf page 3-82.
Could you please tell me the best way to connect the ASD B3 drivers to the AXBB-E board?
I've seen that some people on the forum managed to connect the same type (B2 series) of driver to port 3. Is this the right way to do it?
To tell the truth, I don't really understand the difference between port 1 and port 3. Can you help me ?
Thanks in advance.

There is no difference between port 1. and port 3. of the AXBB-E.
Both output pins on port 1. and 3. has 74HC14 TTL buffer drivers.
So, you can connect the outputs of both ports the same way.

Ok, thanks !
So, which wiring do I prefer ? Port 1 or Port 3 ?
Thanks by advance

Hello,
Sorry, I wrote faster than I thought ;(
Please allow me to rephrase !
Is it possible to drive servomotors in pulse and sign at 24v from outputs O9 to O17 instead of the 5v provided ?

Only the isolated outputs can use 24Volts, the non isolated outputs can only output 5Volts.

Thanks @cncdrive,
I need to drive 4 servomotors to the AXBB-E board by 24V.
However, if we exclude the non-isolated 5V outputs, only the isolated 24V outputs remain.
As O1 is reserved for charge pump, I only have 7 outputs left to wire the 8 step and dir, is this correct?
I have no choice but to use an additional UCSB card on port 3, is that right?
Thank you in advance, I used to wire steppers in 5V and I'm not sure what to do.

You could use a UCSB board, yes.
Or you could use external transistors or mosfets to drive 24Volts from the non isolated outputs.
