Soft Limit Behavior

Postby valhallaCNC » Fri Oct 06, 2023 4:47 pm

Ran across this. If you use steps on any increment and run up against your soft limit it will not move until you do a reset. This happens if you have show message on soft limit checked or unchecked. Even if you OK message box, with messages enabled. Another issue if you uncheck show message option and if your close to your soft limit, and do a 1" step it will go right past soft limit, and in my case hit my hard limit switch. This is 100% repeatable. This is on screen controls, no MPG attached or plugin enabled/
Thanks Joe

It's the same here, I could reproduce both issues.

It is not related to the pendant, you can do it anyhow, the result is the same.

Also experiencing this same quirk. The UCR201 Pendant axis movements are ignored after hitting a soft limit until a reset cycle is completed on the pendant. Ideally I would like to be able to move away from a soft limit without needing to trigger a full estop/reset as it could potentially leave an axis out of square if external forces are applied. I don't have brakes installed on all axis motors yet so once a motor is disabled the last known location isn't necessarily where the machine thinks it is. Even with a brake there's still a short unknown period where an axis could unknowingly drop or move.

Unchecking the popup option in the appearance section doesn't change this behaviour.

Should be simple enough to replicate:

- Move an axis into a soft limit using the UCR201
- Notice popup from UCCNC, machine still enabled but soft limit triggered
- Dismiss (or don't) popup from UCCNC about the soft limit
- Try to move that axis +/- using the UCR201
