cncdrive.
on new version would it be possible to add messages to the load screen to pop up.
for example.

open gl checked ok
running with admin read/write permissions. ok
network handshake ok
etc
ideally before the lost connection/shut down box appears?
it would help with trouble shooting...for me :-)

If the OpenGL check fails then you get the error message.
There is nothing in UCCNC which requires admin rights.
If the network fails then you get the window to select a demo device. Maybe, there could be a short test for communication before the screen is drawn to prevent later shutdown. I assume (Balázs will tell us if I'm right) that UCCNC connects to the motion controller, but while it's working on the screen it doesn't check for the connection. This means that it will detect the lack of connection only after it finished the drawing of the screen.

on the pcs i use with windows 10 the network gets blocked and the lost connection appears on loading if i do not set admin rights to full permission for all users.

You must have some exotic settings. I use 6 different PCs daily, 4 Win 10 and 2 Win 11. (Not to mention all the PCs that I set up for UCCNC.) I've never had any network problems of this kind and I never use anything in admin mode. Any program (except system tools, of course) that needs admin rights is crap. If UCCNC ever needed admin rights, I would never use it.

nothing exotic at all. unless you class the read/write function exotic.
i presumed it happens when read/write allow is disabled as non admin permissions.
when m99998 constructor runs ?
always happens after loading the screen set.

the mini acepc i use, have windows 10 pre installed.
i set them up as offline controllers so no password etc.
setting the shortcut user security priveledges fixed the issue on these pcs.

OK, I recorded a full install of Windows 10 and UCCNC. It's long and uncut to show that I'm not cheating. The network is long: the virtual machine has a newtork card bridged to the physical network card of my laptop, then one switch on my desk, another by my router, a third in my shop and a fourth on the machine itself and the AXBB is connected to this switch. The first 3 are Gigabit, the last is 10/100. I allowed UCCNC to communicate when Win10 asked, but no admin mode, nothing special. I also copied the working and configured version into a folder and homed my machine. (I also installed .Net Framework 3.5.)

Here is the video. (I always forget how to insert youtube, sorry...)

I did not watch the video, but you state that you run a virtual machine in a laptop and that VM is running UCCNC?
I will sting my tongue out and say, “That is not supported”.

Beleive me, I know what I do and what UCCNC can do. While I use an Ethernet motion controller I can use UCCNC in a virtual machine. And also, read the posts that I replied, because this experiment was made to prove that Win10 does not need any tweak and/or admin rights to run UCCNC.

hi dezoe.
i watched your video and noticed your install was windows 10 home.

i dont know what if any difference, i checked with delco and he had no problem with windows 10 home. (only pro)
he is now up and running by using windows 8 and windows 10 home only.

i have only had this on windows pro. as thats what my pcs are pre installed with. ( where i must make sure the user permissions are set)
the customers machine that gave me most trouble last week was also windows 10 pro. ( where windows defender was blocking something causing shut down after screen load)

in your video you add optional .net3.5... is that recommended? i have never added that.

Hi, I installed the .Net FW 3.5 because I used to (auto-pilot mode)... The UCxxx_utility was compiled in .Net 2, so you could use UCCNC, but not the utility. There's no difference between Pro and Home running UCCNC. In fact, all of my laptops run Pro, I just clicked Home because it was already selected. When I finished the video I deleted that virtual machine, so I didn't take care of any settings.
