Mach3 plugin

Postby Delco » Sat Oct 08, 2022 4:01 am

Hi trying to setup a lathe system using a UC300 and a UCSB breakout board.

Wired it all up , tested using uccnc which I am familiar with to make sure all my motors, inputs and outputs work and are wired as expected - noted ports and pins for each so I could configure mach3 the same.

Did a clean install of the mach3 software V3.034 which is the only version I can find on their website.

Downloaded UC300 V1_013 from the cnc drive site for the UC300 copied this file to my windows 10 64bit desktop , clicked on it and I assume it installed in the default mach folder.

Start mach3 and it comes up with "Plugin DLL Defective . Reload"
Redownloaded the plugin from the cncdrive page again - no change ?

Tried the UCx00setup auto installer - same issue says the DLL defective.

Does this mean uccnc UC300 no longer works with mach3 ?

And UCCNC does not have a functioning turn setup :(

If it is a UC300 USB then makes sure to check if the USB drivers are installed.
If it is a UC300ETH then no drivers needed.
Also make sure to install/enable the .NET framework 3.5 in the Windows features.

It is the UC300ETH , I installed the plugin on the UC300ETH page ( https://www.cncdrive.com/UC300ETH.html ) and it did not work - do I not need that ? should I remove it ?

I will check if net framework - it all works fine in UCCNC though - I did all my initial setup and wiring troubleshooting in UCCNC

You need to install the plugin using the UCx00 automatic installer and you need to install/enable the .net framework 3.5 in the Windows features.

That worked thanks , may be worthwhile updating the instructions as it only talks about that for windows XP and I wrongly assumed as .net framework 4.8 was installed and running then everything was good. Maybe the plugin needs to check for the version and issue a warning on install ?

cncdrive wrote:If the following screen pops up when starting Mach3:
then the .NET framework was not installed on the computer. The .NET framework 2.0 is
the prerequirement for running the UC300 controller plugin. The framework can be
downloaded from the UC300 product page, here: http://cncdrive.com/UC300.html or from
Microsoft's website. The .Net framework 2.0 is part of Windows7 and therefor it is not
required to install it on Windows 7 operating systems. It is only required to install it on
Windows XP as it not containing this tool by default, it must be installed separately, by the
user on the Windows XP operating system.
The following popup screen indicates that Mach3 is unable to establish the connection with
the UC300 controller, check the USB connections and the LED states of the UC300 and
restart Mach3.
If the error does not go away then check and if nessessary reinstall the USB drivers.
The following popup screen appears if Mach3 loosing the connection with the UC300
meanwhile it is operating. This event may happen if the USB cable is broken or if the cable
connector was accidentally slipping out from the UC300 or from the PC. The workaround
is checking the USB cable connections and plug it back and restart Mach3

Yes, those instructions should be really updated, however we have it planned to update the plugins from .net 2.0 (3.5) to .net 4.0, because then they could run on Windows 10/11 without installing any .net frameworks, because the .net 4.x is all backwards compatible. So, I think we will update the instructions only after updating to .net 4.0

And .net 4.8 is not backwards compatible with .net 3.5
Our current plugin versions requires .net 2.0 and .net 3.5 contains the .net 2.0, so .net 3.5 is backwards compatible with .net 2.0
And on Windows 10/11 you cannot install .net 2.0 , you can only enable .net 3.5, but as said it contains the .net 2.0 runtime.
