Changing tools manually

Postby jonathanmahnken » Fri Sep 23, 2022 8:05 pm

I am cutting cabinet parts and mdf doors on a 4x8 cnc router with no tool changer. right now I am manually zero ing every bit after every file. I would like to be able to put stop collars on my different bits and then have their offsets set up in uccnc but im having trouble making this work

To do that, you need to use G43 Tool length Offsets.

a nice solution is to fit a tool length probe on the machine- just outside your work space
you can get these for about £25 off aliexpess
that was its just load the tool and press probe.
Uc300eth on router and mill.

This. Mine has ~.0005" repeatability for tool length but on occasion the switch gets stuck during probing and i have to jiggle it. One day I'll clean it. I think I paid 50 on ebay. Order only from aliexpress when you want to receive the part in your next life.
