Possible probing issue V2.115

Postby Delco » Thu Sep 08, 2022 2:24 am

I have a issue where my Y axis bore probe seems to consistantly out by 0.2mm . X is always perfect.

For my setup I zero my coordinates over a hole , then I run a bore operation using the wcs in centre of bore in fusion . Bore a hole then come back and check it with my touchprobe ( I have a ITTP as well as a vers touchprobe - both exhibit the same error) using the hole probing routine .

Everytime it is out of centre only one the Y axis by 0.2mm from where the origin is when I use the hole probe .

What I have done to test
1. rerun the bore with 0.05mm bigger and it cleans up perfectly ( still using the original origin ) - so I believe no lost steps.
2. repeated probed several times rotating the probe 90 deg before each time to check if its probe pretravel errors having a effect (minimal , in the order of 0.02mm variation)
3. repeated with different probe and also rotated to check if its pretravel.
4. confirmed both probe tips are running true.
5. checked backlash on all axis - within 0.012mm

I have noticed for a while when doing a part flip my chamfers seems to be out on the Y and I have to account for the 0.2mm probed point.

So my conclusion is either fusion is moving everything by 0.2mm OR something is going on with the probe routines in uccnc ?

Looking for someone who has v2.115 and a touchprobe to do a bore operation about XY zero , then go and probe to see if they get the same result ?

What do you get if you rotate the workpiece by 90 degrees and probe again?

That would require moving the workpiece , and if its the probing routine out then you have no referenceyou can trust , suppose you could use stops in the vice but hesitant as it would induce errors if the reference surfaces were not the same distance from centre of hole .

I need to get a sweep indicator I think in the spindle to determine if hole is offset from the true X0Y0 or its the probing routine.

I could also bore a 12mm hole , then use a 12mm bit to physically see if the hole is off by 0.2mm from the origin to see if its the fusion cam or the probing routine.

So I would bore hole with cam ,probe with UCCNC then physically check with a manual drilling cycle , then recheck with UCCNC doing 4 seperate probing cycles with the probe orientated 90 deg each time.

Now im just confused ?

Did a bore operation in fusion 16mm dia with a 6mm bit , WCS system in the centre of where I wanted the bore , after completion I probe the bore and it shown as being 0.12mm off centre on the Y , X is perfect . Repeated 3 times moving x across and rezeroing my WCS same result.

I then moved across again and did a manual bore of a hole with a 16mm bit just feeding it down with the jog button , I then probe and it shows X0Y0 it to be centred on the bore perfectly . So no issue with the probing routines.

Which leads me to believe it is in the cam ? but when I check the cam it shows what I am expecting .
X5. Y0. Z-0.676 I0. J5.
X0. Y5. Z-0.816 I-5. J0.
X-5. Y0. Z-0.956 I0. J-5.
X0. Y-5. Z-1.095 I5. J0.
so X5 to X-5 and Y5 to Y-5 as its a 6mm bit to give a 16mm hole.

The error is always in the Y which has two ballscrews B slaved to Y
Do I have a issue with constant velocity or something else - rechecked machine over again for backlash- negligible

Any ideas ?

have you downloaded the latest version of 115? some probe faults were fixed. same revision number.

I will download it again - not good form not to change revision number ?

I have another machine on V2.112 so when I get a chance I am going to rerun tests then update to V2.115 . Its only o.1mm but frsutrating when doing double sided alloy jobs .
