Screenset 2022 auto tool length setup

Postby tonyho810 » Wed Aug 10, 2022 4:24 pm

Hi,
I'm new to this so forgive me if the solution is obvious. I have installed UCCNC and Ger's 2022 screenset and it is working. Now I would like to setup tool length measurement. I have a probe for XY (Works fine) A movable plate for Z which also works. I have built a fixed hall effect plunger (Supposed to be more repeatable than a mechanical switch) and am in the process of fitting it. My machine has an ER20 collet so the stickout of the tool is a random number. What I hope to do is set Z zero on top of the stock with the movable plate, start the job, then the machine stops and goes to a preset position when it wants a new tool, I change it, then it measures the length relative to the previous tool and carries on. I've seen a post from Ger saying this is in his screenset already and he uploaded some macros, but I can't see how I can set this up.

Help please!

Thanks

Tony

Both your moveable plate and fixed plunger need to be wired to the probe inputs.
Then just enter the appropriate settings on the Probe>Settings page, and run the Calibrate routine from the Run screen.
Read the 2022 manual for information on the settings, and if you still have questions, feel free to ask. You can also email me anytime for help.

That works great!
I hve a new possible related issue. I just set up a job with 2 tools, when I press cycle start the Z axis hits the home/limit switch and I get a pop up saying tool change interupted by user. My Z axis home switch clearance is set to 2mm and I have to have my clearance plate at about 95mm
Any ideas?

Check your SafeZ 2 setting. That's where the Z axis moves to after Cycle Start.

Hi Gerry,
It was set to 0, I tried it at 5mm, 30 and -5. same result. If I press the change tool change the same thing happens, also if I run a job without a tool change it's the same.
I turned off the m6 macro and the job without a tool change then works.
I have attached my profile in case it will help.
Regards,
Tony

When it moves up and hits the limit switch, what is the Z Machine coordinate?

I've tried it in all positions from touching the spoilboard to a few mm from the limit

I need to know what the Z axis Machine DRO is reading when it hits the limit switch and gives you the error message.
