AXBB-E with YL620

Postby asuratman » Fri Jul 29, 2022 1:59 pm

Please help !
I have installed YL620 VFD on my AXBB-E. All axis's, mist pump and cooling pump work OK.

I have wired :
AXBB-E VFD
AO1 --- V11
5V0 --- GND , 5V0 power out
O2 --- FWD
24V0 --- XGND

24V0 is connected to 5V0 , power inputs
I have remove jumper on AXBB-E to work 10V.

on UCCNC spindle setting :
PWM 400 hz, 0-100%
spindle velocity 1-24000 rpm
M3 pin #2 port #1
M7 pin #3 port #1
spindle PWM--> analog channel #1

I have entered some parameter VFD YL620 (not all), then I run my machine.
I can make on/off spindle motor through UCCNC, and control freq from VFD knob. I can adjust spindle motor speed by turning the knob on VFD. I can not control speed using S command from UCCNC. So that when I write S3000 on MDI, no changes on motor speed.

How to control spindle velocity with S command or UCCNC, I miss something in UCCNC or I need some more parameter VFD ? What are they ?

Usually a VFD setting or jumper, to switch from manual control to external control. Sorry, not familiar with that VFD.

I have remove the jumper on board to make 10V.

Look in the manual for P07.08.

Yep.
Says:
P00.01 set to 1. (external start/stop)
P07.08 set to 3. (external analog control speed)
Then:
P03.10 - P03.13. (set up the minimum/maximum analog speed values)

Thanks ger and dazp,
I have typed in P07.08 set to 3 and P03.10 - P03.13.
I type in MDI gcode s5000, s20000, etc, it works. But its freq max 200 on VFD panel, in this case I need to check jumper 0-10V, is that right ?

I put back jumper on axbb-e board, now max freq 390 on vfd panel.I think OK for now. I will try to find slowly why freq not right smack on 400 hz. I made mistake to remove the jumper. So VFD and spindle work OK ... thanks ... Monday will try to cut wood ...

So that seemed to work then in terms of the vfd, correct?.
If still not getting the 'full' rpm (but v' close) then:
You need a voltmeter to check you are getting the full 10v from AXBB-E.
Then that will give something to work from when questioning on how to get full rpm.

There may be 'gain' adjustments the more advanced members could point you to.

Correct, the vfd works OK now. I read max 389 hz on VFD panel, it means 389x60 = 23340 rpm. I can use S code in MDI, rpm on spindle motor to follow. When I measured AO1 to 5V0 is not full 10V, I do not have digital volmeter to read exact number. I will check for full 10v, I read in zone or somewhere in here to compensate to 10v.

It seems like you've done a great job setting up your YL620 VFD on your AXBB-E and getting most of the components working correctly. However, it appears that you're facing an issue when trying to control the spindle velocity using the S command from UCCNC. Here are some suggestions to help you troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

Check UCCNC Settings:

Ensure that you have configured the UCCNC spindle settings correctly.
Verify that the PWM frequency is set to 400 Hz, and the spindle velocity range is set to 1-24000 rpm, as you mentioned.
Double-check the M3 (spindle on) and M7 (mist coolant on) pins and port assignments.
Verify Wiring:

Recheck the wiring between the AXBB-E and the VFD to make sure all connections are secure and accurate.
S Command Format:

Ensure that you are using the correct format for the S command in UCCNC. It should be in the form of "S3000" for 3000 rpm, without any additional characters or spaces.
VFD Parameters:

Review the parameter settings on your YL620 VFD. You may need to adjust some parameters to enable external speed control through the analog signal (PWM).
Analog Channel Configuration:

Check the configuration of the analog channel #1 on your VFD. It should be set to accept the PWM signal from UCCNC for spindle speed control.
Test with Different Speeds:

Try sending different S commands with varying speeds to see if there is any response. This can help identify whether the issue is with specific speed settings.
Manual Control:

If manual control through the VFD knob works, it indicates that the VFD is capable of adjusting the spindle speed. Ensure that no VFD parameter restricts external control.
Documentation and Support:

Consult the user manual or documentation provided with your VFD for any specific settings related to external speed control via PWM.
