Is this why Fusion360 errors the Gcode when I select a turning project on CAM and ask it to generate G-code with UCCNC.cps co-processor ?

It's because the Fusion 360 post procesor for UCCNC is a 3 axis post, not a turning post. Someone would need to create a lathe post processor compatible with UCCNC's future lathe mode.

If you add capabilities = CAPABILITY_TURNING; to an existing postprocessor it will ouput generic code for turning.
Try the attached file.

Can you try Mach3 R3.043.066 , that is the version we using for our Mach3 plugin developments, so maybe the issue is the Mach3 version you using.
Please let me know if it works OK with that version or not.
And I can't give you a release date yet, because the most complicated function is missing and we currently working on that now, it is the constant velocity mode together with the G95 feedrate per revolution mode when both are switched on.
These functions when acting together is complicated and we working on making it work, when this will be done then we will test and release the UCCNC with the lathe support.

So managed to install Mach3 R3.043.066 and unfortunately still get a comms error intermittently. Don't know what else to do.

Unfortunately, after installing Mach3 R3.043.066 and calibrating lathe to Machs3 (restarting every time I get comms loss) I am back to my original statement, UC300ETH controller is not compatible with MACH3. Very frustrating considering I have built up system to a point where I can machine accurately and understand MACH3.

I am now stuck and am going to look for an alternate controller that works. Any suggestions welcome.

try a different version of mach3

https://warp9td.com/index.php/sw/softwa ... #MachThree

I know that this is for a rival for the UC motion controller but 066 was known to have some issues.

give it a shot it may work.

mach3 has not been supported for 10 years by artsoft, and will no longer be provided with any updates

consider using something else (uccnc / mach4)

Hi Robert,

Thank you for advice, much appreciated.

I have tried Mach3 Professional turn Version R3.043.052 and last week Mach3 R3.043.066 as suggested by CNCDrive. No luck (
Brilliant article by Warp9 for their users, I will try Mach3 version 3.043.062 as suggested. Holding thumbs this may be it.

I haven't tried Mach4 as the cncdrive support (Balazs) said Mach4 turn does not work with UC300ETH. See email below. Perhaps I should confirm.

Hi,

Thank you for your email.
Currently the UCCNC does not support lathe operations and also our mach4 plugin does not support lathe operations.
Our motion controllers support lathe operations with mach3 only.
However we working on lathe control support for the UCCNC software, but it will still take a few months for us to finish and release it to the public.

Unfortunatly "Turn" is something that is forgotten as everyone chases 3 axis mills and routers as that is where most of the market is.

It seems like UCCNC / CNCDRive have decided to develop a UCCNC Turn application and maybe something will be released shortly.

I have switched to LinuxCNC because of the lack of "turn" / turning functionality.
It has been a steep learning curve but it genuinely does everything I want or need.
I'm happy with it and am needing my backup plan of returning to uccnc less and less (like I had a similar backup plan when I left Mach3 / Mach4 and the Ethernet Smooth Stepper). So I frequent the forum less, but I'm interested to see what cncDrive come up with for Turning functionality, but I am also on the cusp of dropping windows altogether. Linux is really quite impressive once you get your head into it and how it works and what is available etc.

Unfortunately installing that version on my server resulted in the server rebooting every time I ran the Mach3 app. Tried to uninstall and reinstall the previous version and now I get an error on startup "Internal error, resource data not found!" and " Code 4 error". Mach3 wont comms with the Lathe anymore. I even removed the Mach3 kernel driver and re-installed MAch3 but same problem.

My laptop where I originally installed UCCNC and Mach3 still work properly with the lathe. So the Mach3 ver .062 installation must have corrupted something on the old windows 7 server.

I was a Linux user many years ago and am really not keen to lose more time getting re-acquainted with it. It is a very reliable platform once you have taken the time to learn and set it up.

At this point in time I have spent more time trying to get UC300ETH controller to work a simple lathe profile than the amount of time spent designing the CNC conversion parts on CAD, 3D printing and fabricating them combined.

I think CNCDrive should do the responsible thing and remove any references to Mach3/4 compatibility given the problems encountered and the non existing support. Also state on UCCNC web profile that it does not support a lathe function. Had I known this up front, I certainly would not have wasted my time or money.

I do however appreciate your response in trying to assist, much appreciated.

This is interesting reading.
I've got uc300eth on my mill, setup to both mach3 and uccnc.
Might config my mill electronics to mimic a lathe in mach3 and give it a little test to see if motors etc move as expected.
