softlimit does not work

Postby dimcnc » Wed Jun 22, 2022 5:54 pm

When I enable softlimits on the general settings page, the machine does not move both in the Y+ and Z- direction anymore.
Also the X-axis stops much earlier than the programmed value.
Probably I do something wrong!
Thank you!

Have you 'told' the machine how big its table is and set your end stop distances correctly?.

Dazp1976: I do not understand "how big its table is"!?

After sending the machine to its negative limits x- and y-axis, I zero these.
Then move to position 50,50 or so.
Set soft limits to 2 and 100 for both x and y.
Enable soft limits in "general settings"
Run the machine:
X-direction stop @ 30.9141 (i.s.o. 100), no negative soft-limit stop (but hard limit)
Y-direction no soft-limit stop and no negative movement possible.
Thanks for helping!

The softlimits use the machine coordinates, so you should home the machine.

That's it! Thank you!

Brings up new questions: Accidently I found out that I had also to check "auto set" on the "configuration axis" pages. Why?
What is the difference between machine coordinates and non-machine ones. Is this information in the UCCNC users manual?

machine co ordinates are the actual position of the machine from the home switches (if you auto set to zero)

work co ordinates you set to the zero datum of your part. (jog to corner of part and zero the axis)
you can set 5 or select different work co ordinates using g54 to g59 selection buttons. these get remembered when you shut down. (or save offsets on offsets page)
