Question about motion controllers

Postby charliem » Sat May 14, 2022 6:10 pm

Hello everyone,

Other than needing more inputs is there any reason to upgrade from a uc100 to say a uc400 eth. I know the uc400 can pulse at 400 khz. Is this better then the 100 khz of a uc100? What benefit is there? Thanks.

There are some other features supported by the ethernet controllers, but not the UC100. If you need any of those features, then it's worth upgrading. If the UC100 works fine as is, then there's no benefit to upgrading.
Most stepper drives will not work at 400Khz. Again, the additional features of the UC400 are only a benefit if you need them.

Load UCCNC with your UC100 turned off, and start in Demo mode for the UC400ETH. Look through the screens, and you'll see features that are not available in the UC100 screens.
The manual points out features that are not available for the UC100, but they are not all listed in one place.
