Yes, I know, that's me. :)

OK, so your problem is that you don't have the Fine distance set. The movements are as follows:

- probe the selected axis in the given direction in max. P1 units, Fast feed speed
- retract the axis with Fine distance
- probe again with Fine feed speed
- retract to start position
- zero if needed

So, set the Fine distance. And also, on the Setup page select Greater Z is safer in G17: this will tell the program that the safe Z zone is up.

thanks that worked. can you look at my profile, and see if you can tell me why when i home my axis. none of them back off and do a fine or slow homing?

As Gerry already wrote you there's no second homing. Use a higher speed towards the sensor, so it will not take a long time to get there and a low speed to come off the sensor. The homing will be precise, don't worry.
