“SAFE Z” and “Run From Here” bugs to check?

If you think you've found a bug post it here.

No, but I've probably used "Run From Here" one time, ever.

Agreed that it will depend a lot on the sort of work and operator preferences :)

Gee after over 5 decades of working with this I might understand how it works. The reason it goes to the previous line is that spot is "assumed" to be a safe spot to restart as it has already been cut. THEN it moves into the "possibly not finished cutting" position and finishes up that move. Easy Peasy

Been there done that a few times now, (;-) TP

Also had 5+ decades of designing, building, programming special purpose m/c's, been there done that lots of times :D
Assuming is always a risky action, It may well plunge into a previously m/c'd part but it sits there with the spindle running creating witness marks waiting for another Cycle start  If the spindle is not running through choice it then starts the spindle whilst engaged with the workpiece and you think this is OK
As said before RFH it is very handy if you only want to cut part of a design (which I not infrequently do) but not with the way it works at present, would be so easy to choose when to plunge from the pop up :D
Iv'e not used any other software which does this

(;-) might be time to reconsider the controller you are running if UCCNC and their thinking does not suite you. There are plenty of them out there 8-)

What you seem to keep missing is you are NOT plunging into uncut material, you are simply returning to a previously cut position and continuing on from there. IF you are plunging down through material to start you are using the wrong approach to cutting the part.

What you seem to keep missing or ignoring is the fact that if I want to cut part of a program ( can be quite handy and is something I can do with other softwares) it IS plunging into the uncut material. I find it extraordinary that with your professed experience you think this is OK.

I have 2 other softwares running which do have better features, I chose the AXBB because of its hardware and the fact that Gerry's screenset was about to be released, and constant good revues of UCCNC It takes a little while to discover the intricacies of new software, perhaps if I had spent more time playing with UCCNC I might have chosen differently but have spent my money and will live with it, but I don't see that I should not try to alter/get new features because of your prejudeces.

Interestingly, my wrong approach has served me well for many years :D

The only thing that surprises me is that you have not destroyed a lot of tooling with your methods. NEVER would one PLUNGE deep into the material to start cutting a part. You work your way in from the outside in cutting away the material.

IF you need to make a sub part from the Gcode then you plan your approach and start from a point that allows you to do it safely.

You can lead the camel to the water trough but you can't make him drink.

Thats a stupid approach IMO, I mean not considering others opinions, but anyways I've made an upgrade just for you, it will be available in the next release.
The attached picture explains it.
