AXBB-E With MACH 4

Postby Peter G » Mon Aug 09, 2021 1:45 pm

Hey everyone,

Got my hands on the AXBB-E last week and before I fit it I want to make sure it can control my spindle with speed control. So far i have managed to get the spindle to rotate clockwise and anti clockwise through Mach 4. I cant seem to find any documentation what so ever on how to enable the analog output 1 to send a 0-10v signal to my VFD to control the speed. I have tried many things through the UCCNC Plugin in mach 4 but cant get it to output a voltage. Anyone had this issues?

You have to assign the analog output of the AXBB-E to the spindle PWM, you can do that in the AXBB-E Mach4 plugin with the SP PWM checkbox in the analog settings.
But your question has been already answered in email to because you asked the same in email too.

Hi,

You need to open your plugin config for the AXBB-E. Inside the plugin there is a tick-box called PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) this is what confused me at first as my VFD needed a 0-10v signal but if you enable the PWM is works. Also, another thing that i was doing wrong was you needed to set the speed in the MDI code so M3 S10000 not just using the spindle start stop button. For mach4 to calculate the needed voltage for the spindle RPM you need to open the mach 4 configuration window and set the MAX RPM and minimum RPM. Once you have does this use a voltage meter to measure the output voltage from the analog output.

Any other problems let me know.

Good morning Peter
Thanks for the prompt reply ! Bear in mind im a mechnical engineer and i stand and gaze at the VFD in wonderment !
I ticked the box in the plugin to pwm, i have mach 4 switching the spindle on and off. are you saying I need to put the code in the MDI screen ? I have set the max rpm to 3000 as its an old semco knee type mill that i converted, min zero. In the axbb e plugin it asks for a pin out for the pwm do i just ignore this ?

Hi,

You say you are able to turn the spindle on and off but at what RPM? For you to be able to control the spindle RPM in MDI code you need to do M3 S3000 that will set the spindle to 3000RPM if you have a gcode file it will automatically do this with parameters in the Goode. Once you have set the speed in MDI you can use the spindle RPM slider that controls the override in mach4. Regarding the pin out i cant remember but i will be in the office in an hour and should be able to find out.

Hey together.

I have nearly the same Problem but cant get it solved...
Vfd is switching fwd and rev but no outputvoltage...
Pwm in analog setting is ticked...

Hi,
Just checked my Mach4 setting you just need the PWM pin checked and no pin needs to be assigned. The only pins that need to be assigned are the fwd and reverse in the mach4 config.

Found the Problem myself.
Spindle mode was on const. Surface.
On const. Rpm it works.
