Probing Axis 1 Count Dia

Postby johu » Wed Oct 06, 2021 12:49 pm

I'm having trouble understanding the "Axis 1 Count Dia" button.
I expected the button to compensate for a probe diameter in the X and Y direction. Not in the Z-direction.
I use a wireless touch probe in a ISO30-ER32 tool holder, with a probe diameter of 2mm.
I use UCCNC version 1.2112

In the X and Y direction the button works as expected.
My probe diameter is set to value 2, set via the Tool diameter.
But when probing in the Z- direction, with the "AXIS 1 COUNT DIA" enabled I get a value wich is 1mm less with respect to probing with the button disabled.
(Same behaviour for the "Axis 2 Count Dia" button)

I hope @dezsoe or someone else can clarify this.

Can you upload your profile? And a question: in which probe mode (tool, simple, etc.) did you find this?

I have the same phenomenon. Software is 1.2113, Touch Probe - Simple Probe,
probing in Z with "Axis 1 count Diameter" = on. The zero point in Z is lower by the radius of the Probe Diameter.

OK, thanks, I'll check it, but please, upload your profile, I have to see the exact settings.

In simple probe mode you have to turn off the count dia switch, because the program does not care which axis you probe. If count dia and/or count gage is on then it counts with it/them. In tool probe mode the count dia is turned off while probing: you can see it on the button.

Hi dezsoe,

this is exactly as you described it. I have now also always switched off the "count dia switch" before touching in simple mode. On the first workpiece, the upper chamfer became 1 mm deeper (the diameter of the probe was set to 2 mm). But that only happened to me once. :-)

With "tool probe" the switch is automatically switched off. Thanks for your info. Now I know that this has its order and is not a bug ;-)
