UC300ETH MPG #2 working on install

Postby hanica » Wed Mar 03, 2021 9:55 pm

Hi I have just upgraded my old uc300usb tho the ethernet version.
Everything still works apart from:

MPG2 is non functional, the monitor is saying the pins are activating (port5 pins 4,5) but its not causing any movement nor is the position readout changing.
I had this issue years ago when I bought one of the first UC300usb's Balzacs sent me updated code, any Ideas?

switch from continuous jog to mpg jog :
located port 5 pins 8 (cont /working) 9 (MPG / not working)

Is there a software update for these issues?

Regards
Tony

The problem is that we cannot find out which version of what software do you use. Because you mention MPG2, I think it's Mach3 or Mach4. If yes, then you should ask in the Mach3/Mach4 topic.

I forwarded this matter already for testing to my collegue who works with Mach3 plugins, he will check it out asap.
It will take some time though, because he is a bit overloaded now.

Two weeks ago, I upgraded my Romaxx WD1 from a Mach3/UC100/ Romaxx BOB to a Mach3/UC300eth/CNC4PC C94 BOB. It was a mostly plug n play move...mostly. I have basic functions but have lost my front panel MPG. It's the standard 6 pin differential out, TTL level signal, 25ppr, optical MPG that I've been using for 12 years. It's connected to the C94 on port 1, pins 13 and 15 and a PS common. I measured TTL signals at the inputs. I can see the BOB LEDs index when I turn the knob and can see those inputs index on the UC300 Plugin monitor. The pins are defined in the Mach3 config as the MPG and the MPG calibrates as expected in Mach3. But tabbing over to the Mach3 Jog panel, any attempt to use the MPG results in a runaway axis. So I'm curious to hear how anyone has connected a basic front panel MPG to a Mach3 / UC300eth?

I had been using a UC100 and my machine's original BOB under Mach3 but needed some more I/O. So I recently ordered the UC300eth and a C94 BOB from CNC4PC. The install went quickly and I'm cutting parts again. However, I have lost my front panel MPG functions. It's a standard +5V , 25ppr differential output quadrature MPG and is original to the machine. The MPG A and B outputs are now connected to the Port 1 - 13 and Port 1 - 15 inputs on the C94 and are referenced to PS common there. I both measured TTL levels at the inputs when slowly turning the MPG knob and can see the LED indicators on the C94 clock through a quadrature cycle. I can also see the same on the UC300eth Port monitor. The pins are configured in Mach3 as the MPG inputs ( they're the same ones I've used since I bought the machine 12 years ago. ) and the MPG calibrates in Mach3.

But, with the drives enabled while the Jog window is open and MPG selected, any transition of the MPG in either direction launches that axis at full speed until the Estop is hit. Exciting... Any tips on getting the MPG to work properly?

Itʻs been a few months but Iʻm still wondering if the UCC300eth can read my front panel MPG using pin 13 and 15 on Port 1 after upgrading to the C94. J It has been one of my favorite features for 12 years using Mach3 and a Soundlogic BOB. I can see the LEDS flicker on the BOB when rotating the knob and in the I/O monitor on the PC. Mach3 is configured to use it. Has anyone added a non pendant MPG under Mach3 and the Ucc300eth???
