Adding OPT Laser PLH3D-6W-XF+ to UC300ETH-5LPT

Postby Samarah » Wed Aug 04, 2021 7:34 pm

I plan to add an OPT Laser PLH3D-6W-XF+ to my CNCRouterParts PRO4848 w/PNP electronics. I changed from the as-built ESS/Mach 3 setup to the CNCDrive UC300ETH-5LPT/UCCNC setup. The laser to CNC controller connection lists the AXBB-E but not the UC300ETH-5LPT. I can't see any reason why the UC300ETH-5LPT wouldn't work, but wanted to confirm with people much more knowledgeable than myself.

The suggested AXBB-E connections are:
Enable to Port 1- Pin O17
Analog In 5v to Analog Port - Out 1 - AO1
Ground to Analog Port - 5V0

Planned UC300ETH-5LPT connections:
Enable to any unused Port - Pin 17
Analog In 5v to Analog Port - Pin 6 - Analog output 1
Ground to Analog Port - Pin 5 - Ground

Here's the manual link:

Any other laser related suggestions are gladly welcome.

I too did the exact same move from ESS/Mach 3 to UCCNC and the ETH using a 10W fiber laser and it works perfectly. The laser app within UCCNC is a very nice piece of software and produces amazing pictures as it does variable power.
I use it with Autodesk Inventor for cutting and marking flawless.

Thanks for the reply. Could you share your laser connection to the UC300ETH?

I simply have my laser connected to the Laser pin 1 on Port 3 of the UC300ETH and then run the software Laserengrave plugin. This is now PWM controlled and I have an LED monitoring the Pins activity which is handy as I'm using an infrared laser so it tells me it is on.
When I'm cutting with the laser then the Gcode M10 and M11 are used to control on off as well as the power level via the Q levels. Again you need to make sure your CAD software outputs the M10 and M11 commands as well as the Q and all will be well.
