Opt Laser -AXBB-E Configuration

Postby Kenennis » Thu Jun 10, 2021 11:12 am

I am trying to configure an OPT Laser PLH3D-6w laser in UCCNC. I have an OPT Laser CNC Adaptor which shows the AXBB-E connections as follows Enable to O17 port 1 Angin 5V to pin AO1 and gnd to Power out 5v0. I have made the connections and test fired the Laser and it worked. Could someone please advise what I have to do to configure the settings in the software. I have searched the forum but I am unable to find the answers I would like. I was able to get the laser working with Mach3 but I was never sure that whilst I got it to work, how I was doing it was the correct way. Any help and assistance will be greatly appreciated

use a standard output pin for laser pwm. (not analog)
set laser pwm pin setting to that output.

test with m3 to power up (via relay)
m10 Q255 for full power, Q127 for half power etc
m11 for laser off
Uc300eth on router and mill.

Thank you for your reply Unfortunately I am not as technicality competent as your good-self so I do not fully understand your reply if I am correct in my thinking a Q255 command is a GERBL
command. I use vetric which generates G code. That aside I would appreciate if you could explain how to do this for someone like myself who has limited technical knowledge will understand

Were you able to get your Opt Laser up and running? I'm having some issues getting mine to fire correctly without my spindle turning on. Thanks.

As Batwell says use another pin for the laser output. Better yet create a new profile for the laser.
I have both a spindle motor and added a laser to my CNC and assigned a different Pin to fire the laser within a different profile. Then the standard laser commands will work as expected.

Hi guys. I have almost the exact setup in question. It's taken me a bit of time to get it configured properly. Here are some pics of it and the software config that i got to work. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll see if I can help.
Dean

My current system:
Lead CNC machine
AXBB-E controller
UCCNC software
HuanYang VFD using rs232 signal and UCCNC plugin to control and get feedback from spindle
Laser - OptLaser PLH3D-6W

I have 2 profiles setup in UCCNC (Router and Laser). This is important so you can isolate the spindle from the laser control, and make it really easy to swap between tasks

Laser Hardware setup:
AXBB-E ground (5v0) - Laser Ground (Brown wire) - sorry about the paralax error on the pic (it is in the 5v0 pin)
AXBB-E Laser Enable (pin17 port1) - Laser PWM/TTL input (Green wire)
AXBB-E PWM (pin1 port3) - Laser Enable1 input (Yellow wire with blue extension)

I don’t use analogue signal from the axbb-e to control the laser (though this is the OptLaser setup on their website)

Laser UCCNC setup:
Spindle config tab
- PWM set to pin1 port3
- PWM frequency 100Hz (this works, but I have no idea if optimal, haven’t bothered to play with it)
- Spindle speed range 0-255 (the picture will show min= 2 but that’s just me playing)
- Spindle relay enabled
- PWM min duty 0%, max duty 100%

I/O config tab
- Laser pin17 port1

General Settings/Plugin tab
- disable the HuanYang rs232 plugin from starting on loading the profile (otherwise the spindle min speed will be set by the vfd, and the spindle will turn on during the laser firing)
- all other plugins set as per your needs for you cnc
