Quick Change Z Axis

Good evening,

Im in WAY over my head... or so I think.. Tonight I will be putting power to my machine for the first time. Well, the first time with the intent on making MAJOR movements.

Right now, I have the Z Axis all part, Im rebuilding it as the previous one was ramshackle. So, I want to make it so that I can swap out the plasma base, or a Laser, a Marker, or a spindle. I have roughly 10" of travel on the Z Axis, and the gantry is very strong. I'm not a production shop, like most of you I am just a guy in a garage who wants to make a little side cash with his machine.

Does anyone ever do this without buying some big elaborate commercial system?
