Softlimits question

Postby spumco » Thu Jan 12, 2017 2:52 am

Just got my 4th (rotary) axis hooked up and turning and have run in to a snag.

If I have softlimits enabled, then the 4th axis is not free to continually rotate. It will eventually reach a limit even if I set the limits to something like +/- 3600 or +/- 36000 units.

Is there a way to disable softlimits for a particular axis only? I'd like to (eventually) be able to rotate my 4th axis as a very slow lathe with no limitation on the number of rotations, yet still have softlimits enabled on the X/Y/Z axes.

Thanks,

Unfortunately there is no solution for this currently, because the softlimits enable is a global variable for all axis.
It is not possible to exclude axes from the softlimits. If the softlimits is enabled then it will work on all axis.
The only thing you could do is to set the softlimits + and - to very large numbers, e.g. the double type minimum and maximum values, if my memory is OK then these are -1.7*10^308 and 1.7*10^308,
so they are really large values.

That should work just fine until the rotary axis features are implemented.

Thanks again,
