S planner ?

Postby xillianto » Thu Feb 11, 2021 11:54 pm

Hi, is there any new development about the S planner projectory ?

I feel that with servo's my machine is far from fluid, more like jerking in the corners and not really happy about the movements around my work.
And yes, i have loosened up tollerances, but i cant see any improvements.

One of my collegue is working on the algorithms, but it is far from getting implemented.
Altough, please note that S curve motion planning is not the "magic pill" as you might think it is.
Yes, it can make motion smoother especially for complex paths, but it makes the machining time longer.
The smoother you tuning the S the slower the machine will finish the same job.

Did you try to maximize the acceleration parameter of your axes aswell?
It can help a lot in smoothing the motion especially on complex motion paths.

Did You have the servos properly configured in servodriver ? If the setting are default from factory there could be a problem with motion and software could not compensate for it.

Yes, if the servos torque is not sized or the motor inertia is not matched to the load or if the servo is not tuned for the load properly could cause jerking.
If the servo allows following error monitoring then I would check that while you see the jerky movements to see if it follows the commanded path properly or if it is a tuning problem.
