3D printing with UCCNC

Postby cnc4hobbysts » Sat Jan 23, 2021 9:53 am

Hi everyone,

I have searched in the forum, but I can't find any topic more recent that 2018 about this argument.
I would like to convert my CNC to 3D printing, using UCCNC and the UC300eth controller, but reading around until 2018 nobody had good results with this combination using the 3D print plugin. Is there anybody who tested and had success with 3D printing?

MAny people had success with 3D printing. I think there are also some videos on Youtube.
Stepcraft also posted some videos of 3D printing with the UCCNC.
The 3D printer plugin does the extra thing which is required for the machine when working as a 3D printer instead of a CNC.

Ofcourse the 3D printer mechanics has to have cartesian coordinate system just like conventional CNC machines.

I have it working with my machine, I still used a ramps 1.4 controller for the heater bed and hot end (this also offers protection in case of thermal runaway). The CNC Machine then uses standard motion and A axis for the extruder.

Thanks for your answers.
As soon as I find some time, I will start this project. I will follow your suggestions, using the UC300ETH to move the 3 axis and the extruder, instead for the bed and hot end heaters I will go for an Arduino.
