Probing function explanation

Postby woffler » Fri Jan 08, 2021 1:36 am

I am trying to set up the mobile probe functions ,I can get the settings in there for the location and when I go to the table and measure the offset with tool setter and use (ref. probe as workpiece) when it starts to travel I get the reset button and probe stopped ,probe triggered in safe probe mode I also have tool change set to stop Spindle wait for cycle start.

I see no explanation as to what the safe probe mode is as well as the safe probe jog mode ,I have not enabled the buttons I know I am doing something wrong just need to know what the heck it is?

This is what I am trying to do
1. Set up mobile probe coords. and then move to work, set Z tool offset set tool #1 offset ,set x and y coords to Zero.
2. At tool ( M06 T2 change ) stop and let me change tool for next Operation insert tool and move to mobile tool change position
3. Measure tool offset tool #2 at mobile table position ,write the offset and return at the correct Z height to to continue the job .

Any help would be greatly appreciated ThankYou

The jog safe probe mode (JSP) is for probing with jogging: when you reach the probe sensor then you can jog that axis only in reverse direction. This mode is not used/enabled/disabled by the probe screen.

The safe probe mode is to save your probe (and machine): when safe probe mode is on, a programmed move is running and the probe input becomes active then it generates a reset. (If you have an expensive 3D probe, the machine moves and something hits the probe, then it stops and will not crash your probe.) The probe screen does all moves in safe probe mode: it turns on for all moves, turns off while probing and restores the original state when a probing function is finished.

If you get a reset while moving, then your probe input gets false signal. You have to check shielding, use pull-up/pull-down resistors, etc. depending on your hardware.

I have made a few videos of the current probing functions .

Thank you for the explanations and the links to the video, I will get onto what is causing the noise issue and see if i can resolve it, may be grounding thru the flexible conduit it came with.
I'll dig in today and see what i get thanks for the help i appreciate it .

I am trying to figure out the noise issue on the input pins AXBB-E board 24 v inputs

1.The tool setter N/C switch is probe #1 (PIN 13 + ) THRU SWITCH TO (24V + ) AND ( 13- ) IS WIRED TO (24 V0) THIS IS MOBILE PROBE (should the pin be driven low or high ? )

2.The ESTOP switch is wired same way but different pin, ( #10 + ) THRU SWITCH TO (24 V+) AND THE PIN #10 - TO (24 V0 ) , all these cables have a shield grnd .

Is a 10 K resistor suitable for this purpose ? THX

pin 13
