Closed loop steppers

Postby b57378 » Thu Dec 10, 2020 6:49 pm

Hi all, having a slight problem with my setup. Everything is working fine except for the alarm signals on the stepper drives.

I have a total of five drives, the alarm signals +/- are parallel up since they are configured with normally open signals.

If I go into diagnostics and simulate an axis alarm fault, the input lights up and triggers a reset as desired.

However the problem is that the reset button can be cleared even though the input is still active. This becomes a problem when running a slaved axis as it can be reset without realising that one of the slaved axes has alarmed out so any movement will likely twist the gantry.

It would be ultimate if the reset could not be bypassed until drive fault is cleared by resetting power to drives.

I've also tried writing a script to m20000 where a message box is triggered when this signal is active but for some reason it doesn't call this (script works in mdi).

The "+" of the alarm signal goes to an input on BOB and "-" goes to GND pin.

Any suggestions will be appreciated, thanks!

The trigger is a trigger. It means that only the change of the signal will cause an event. You should use the FaultSignals plugin, which is included since version 2.2111.

(You should configure the drivers to normally closed and chain their alarm signals. In the FaultSignals plugin you can set a start delay to let the drivers close their outputs. I show my settings below.)
