Wrong settings in uc100?

Postby TheReaper » Thu Nov 19, 2020 2:26 pm

I have a problem with one of the axes on my CNC. I have the same settings on all the motors and only one of them are giving me a headache.
I have my step/mm at 320 (micro-step at 1600step/rev) and have 1605 ballscrew.
Kernel freq at 25kHz (machine stops working with higher frequencies but my stepper driver should handle 100kHz, dont understand why)
Speed at 3000mm/min
Acceleration at 300mm/s^2

Motor is Nema 34
I: 6A
L: 8mH
V: 3.6V

I have attached a small clip on the problem. It is stalling, but not always. If I plug in another motor instead of the one on the axis, the problem follows to other motors.

If your speed is 3000mm/min this is 50mm / sec. 1605 ball screw mean 5 rev's sec

At 1600 steps per rev X 5 rev / sec thats 8000 Pulses per sec, required, double that to go high low and this is 16000 or 16khz. Thats already 64% of your clock cycle before you try to run a second axis. I would suggest running at at higher clock speed or lowering the steps per rev.

You get 25Khz for each axis, not total.

Try reducing the acceleration to see if it helps.

After a lot of testing, trying to change the velocity and acceleration to see if the motor is getting better, no change in the stalling of the one axis. I had tried another output on the breakout board before, and this did not change the problem either, but I di try the last axis output pins (16 and 17), and the problem disappeared. So I believe it is the breakout board that is failing me...

But I don't understand why I can't use kernel frequency higher than 25kHz when I put it on 50kHz; all motors stop working, can this be the breakout board as well?

Perhaps you have a low quality break out board with slow opto couplers. Make a photo or write the exact type or send a link to check it.

https://www.amazon.de/-/en/gp/product/B ... UTF8&psc=1

I bought this package, can't find any good information about the breakout board, not on their web site either.
I have ordered a new breakout board from another brand.

that BoB is just a generic / updated one of these with SMT components
