Adding an encoder to my spindle motor

I had seen that post somewhere along the line and do have my index pulse sensor on the actual spindle (retroreflective sensor and a little piece of reflective tape iin the top pulley hub.)

I haven't tried tapping yet, but hope to give it a shot this weekend. I'll start with something forgiving like plastic... or that piece of stale bread sitting on my table.
