Using Park buttons with soft limits enabled

Postby CNC22369 » Tue Jan 03, 2017 10:30 pm

I'd appreciate some comments on what I may be doing wrong when I try to use the Park buttons when soft limits are enabled or if this
is a know issue.

Configuration: CNC router using UCCNC (v29) & UC100; router has hardware limits.

Park 1 & 2 macros were edited to have the positions I wanted.
Soft limits were setup to trigger 0.25" before hardware limits.

Machine homes correctly.
With soft limits disabled, Park 1 & 2 buttons/macros work correctly.
With soft limits enabled, soft limits work correctly --- when jogging, the machine stops at the correct soft limit positions.

But when I try to use a Park button with soft limits enabled, I get the soft limit reached dialog box and the gantry does not move.
This repeats whenever a Park button was pressed. Note that the gantry was well within the working area envelope.

After some trial & error I was able to get the combination working together. After homing, I went to the general configuration tab
and clicked on the Apply Settings button (no configuration changes were made). At that point, when I pressed a Park button I got the
soft limit reached dialog again but the x & Y axes moved appropriately (the z did not move). After clearing the message, the Park buttons worked
fine from then on with soft limits enabled (all 3 axes moved appropriately).

I tried the same thing in demo mode and had essentially the same problem. And a side note: when configuring the soft limits, the soft limit
reached dialog box was constantly popping up -- even when I was doing something like saving changes.

Thanks, Frank

My first question is which version of the UCCNC are you running?
There were some issues like you described with the softlimits in several earlier versions,
so if you not running it already then please try to install version 1.2029 available for download on our website.
And please let me know if the issue is still there with that newest version.
If it is then I will ask you for some more informations, but first please check it with that version.

Could you please post/attach the following things:

1.) Your park macro
2.) Your profile file

If possible please post the profile when the coordinates has values in it when the issue is reproducable,
so then we could just load your profile reproduce the issue with running your macro and could then easily debug the problem.
So, the best would be if you open the UCCNC will reproduce the issue and when it happens then post the profile file, so then it will be sure we can reproduce the issue here using your settings and macro.

Hopefully, the attached files have the data you need. If not, please let know and I will try again.

I did the following:

Homed the machine.
Moved gantry off machine home.
Pressed Park 1 --- problem occurred -- soft limits reached in status message box + dialog box.
Saved profile.

Notes:
The problem is 100% repeatable on my end.
When I press the Apply Settings button Park starts working properly (see my original explanation).
If I re-home, the problem appears again -- 100% repeatable.
In M200, I only changed the xyz coordinates -- nothing else.

Good luck and thanks,
Frank

We found what the problem is, it is a bug in the software that for some reason it still checks the softlimits coordinates of the slave axis because it is enabled,
but it should check only it's master's softlimit coords, because the axis is slaved.
So, we see what the issue is and working on the correction.

I tested the soft limits and park features using test version 1.2031 --- they worked fine on my system.
Many thanks for the great support!
