Arc Ok won't work

Postby Pyruu » Tue May 26, 2020 8:22 pm

I had some trouble with the arc ok on my table.
First of all it work during the cutting operation.
The software interrupts the operation when the arc is loss.

But i tried to make some pierce holes for later drill by hand.
The axis moves without waiting for arc ok input.
The follwing sample g code wont stop at M03.

Code: Select all
N0010 M205
N0020 G01 Z5.0
N0030 M03
N0050 G04 P200
N0060 Z2.5
N0070 M05

I tried this code with a new uccnc installation
what is wrong with the g code?

It works fine. However, in demo mode it won't stop, but that's OK, because in demo mode you cannot change an input level. (I tested with UC100.)

had to do some similar stuff again.

I made a video for better understanding
below is the g-code from the video
https://streamable.com/8sazg8

Is this problem related to my g-code?
from line N0870 the arc ok is working.

thanks in advance

The video shows that THC delay is on.
The value for THC delay is 1s.
Turn off the THC delay and try.

No difference.
I thought thc delay executes after M3 detects an arc ok signal.
Thc delay blocks only up/down motion.

Why do you turn on THC for piercing holes?
In your code I see that this drilling of holes takes only 0.1 sec.
During this time, the THC function does not make sense, and cannot work properly (it takes some time for the plasma arc voltage to stabilize and later THC corrects the height of the plasma torch based on this voltage).
The THC delay serves to delay the THC response time until a stable arc voltage is established.
The use of THC makes sense as the machine moves along the X and Y axes (THC corrects the height of the plasma torch because the sheet metal plate is already deformed or heats up and bends due to plasma cutting). The use of THC does not make sense until the machine moves along the x and y axes.

the time between executing m3 and get the arc transferred to the metall is different
every single pirce in my setup. So im using the THC function to wait for the arc ok ( arc is transferd).
Without THC and fixed pierce delay some hole were burned too much and others have no marks.

OK, try to make some machine movement between M3 and M5.
Let's say instead of:
N0080 (Operation: Drill, hole, T9: 8mm Stahl 60A hole, 0 mm Deep)
N0090 G00 X117.5000 Y225.0000
N0100 M1031
N0110 G00 Z4.0000
N0120 M03
N0130 G04 P0.1
N0140 G01 Z4.0000 F3000.0
N0150 M05

Try this:
N0080 (Operation: Drill, hole, T9: 8mm Stahl 60A hole, 0 mm Deep)
N0090 G00 X117.5000 Y225.0000
N0100 M1031
N0110 G00 Z4.0000
N0120 M03
N0130 G04 P0.1
N0140 G01 Z4.1000 F3000.0 (Z axis up for 0.1)
N0150 M05

I think the program interprets the Arc OK signal properly, but since there is no machine movement between M3 and M5, after M5 the machine is just continuing to execute the G-code.
By inserting the Z axis movement up, you will make sure that the machine must have the Arc OK signal activated before this movement. This should get the job done.

Regarding the video there seems to be some really weird stuff going on. Example, lines:

N870 M3 ARC OK LED DOES NOT TURN ON
N880 G04 P2.4 ARC OK LED STILL DOES NOT TURN ON
N890 G01 Z4.0000 F2970.0 THC TURNS OFF AT END OF N880 G04 P2.4

Before doing anything else I'd look into these issues. Something is not right.
