Wiring diagram ESS smoothstepper with 2 ST-V2 bob

Postby andyjack38 » Mon Apr 20, 2020 9:04 pm

HI, I am rebuilding my control box which is using a parallel ST-V2 breakout board. I recently bought a UC400ETH + license since I have a spare ST-V2 board I aim to use both of them but I am confuse about the 5 VDC volt I understand that the UC400ETH need a 12-24Volts and I see on pin 26 of the ribbon cable there also a 5 volt on the other end a female DSUB25 seem to go nowhere tough my confusion. I already have a 5vdc and a 24vdc power supply. Since accident do happen I want to make sure that nothing happen to my new board so it would be nice if someone could post a complete wiring schematic using the UC400ETH board couple with 2 bobs showing inputs and outputs. Many thanks to all of you.

If you have two of these generic BOBs, just buy 2 26pin idc to 25 pin lpt connector cables, and plug the cables into the uc400eth and the other end into the generic BOBs.

You then power the uc400eth with 12-24v dc.

And you power the generic BOBs with 12-24v (if you intend to use the spindle output / relay on the bobs) AND 0v and 5v to power the low voltage side of the Bob.

Because you are using a 26pin idc connector cable to 25pin lpt connector you CANNOT use pin 26 from the uc400eth because it is lost (not connected) within the 25pin lpt (DB25 connector)

So you will need a 12-24v power supply AND a 5v power supply to power the generic BOBs.

And share the 12-24v power supply to power the uc400eth. (You could use a separate 12-24v power supply for the uc400eth but that is probably overkill as it does not use that much current)

The manual for the uc400eth is here that shows the pinout.
