the probe is a basic 2 wire type,,,one wire is going to the top of the gantry where i can plug the probe into and place below the spindel,,then remove when zeroed,,,,,this wire is also connected to the machine frame, and back to the o voltage on the bob,,,,does the other wire need to be connected to a 5v supply then to an input??

Voyager,

The wire that comes from the alligator clip should go to a ground/com on your board, and the wire that comes from the touch plate puck should go to input pin of your choice.

In UCCNC, when you setup the probe input for the pin/port you selected, set it for Active low (check the box). Verify by looking at the probe LED on 'Diag.' page and touching the clip to the puck pad. LED should only be on when clip is touching pad.

If you ever setup a normally closed type touch probe later on a second probe input (or wire it so you have to swap them to the same input), it would be wired similarly, but you would set it for Active high (don't check box for active low).

regards
Eric

Wire as shown on page 13 of the UCBB manual. Either of the two ways will work.

I probably should have known more about the UBB-1 before I replied, its a little different than I thought.

Wire it per the ' NO switch ' method per the manual. I'd still put the clip end on the 0v end of power, and put the puck wire into the ' -ve ' side of input. Connect '+ve' side of input to +V.

Looking at how this is done on the UBB, it likely means the touch plate will then behave like an 'active high' input instead of 'active low' when you setup the pin info in UCCNC (and vice verso for a Normally closed type touch probe also).

good luck

Eric
