I had already tried that , when trying to install it says I need ver 3.1 or higher to install :(

So I still need to get from ver 2 to ver 3.1 ? searched the web and cant get any to install and all the old links to 3.0 seem to be dead

Older UCCNC versions required the .net framework 2.0, while newer ones require the .net framework 4.0
If the application cannot start and asks for the .net 4.0 framework then you need to install that.

XP requires it to be installed, because it does not install with the operating system, but newer Windows like Windows 10. comes with the .net framework 4.x which is compatible with the .net 4.0, so on Win 10. there is no need to install it...

I eventually found a dotnet 3.0 , 3.5 and 4 ,on a torrent site , downloaded then all and installed one at a time and it sorted that issue out , next issue was vga was not good enough to start UCCNC on win98 - gave up and threw the pc in the corner. Time for a new pc :(

It is not sure that the graphics card is not good enough. If you getting an OpenGL error and so if the UCCNC does not start for that reason then it is also possible that the graphics card drivers are not installed, so Windows installed a default driver which cannot do OpenGL graphics accelerations, so the card tells Windows that it cannot do it, but it cannot do it only because there is no software (drivers) installed which is the glue between the graphics card hardware and the Windows software.
In this case you just have to install the graphics card drivers to make it work.
