UC400eth losing output pulse sync

Postby matth » Thu Mar 12, 2020 1:44 pm

I have retro fitted a Teckel 8x4 router as a Plasma cutter with UCCNC - UC400eth - DMM BOB - DMM DYN2 400w AC servos.

It's been running in testing (without the Plasma firing) for a couple of weeks.

I have had 4 or 5 instances of the UC400 not outputting a proper pulse train whilst moving or jogging the axis.
Movement becomes extremely juddery and slow.
Most of the time this has been on startup but yesterday it happened after activating a hard limit.

The only way I can recover from this condition is by pulling the power from the UC400 for a short period and then restarting the software.

The controller is less than 6 weeks old.

I have been unable to recreate the issue, it seems to happen at random.

All over times the controller and software work fine with rapids of 15M/min.

What frequency do you have set in UCCNC? If you have it set to 400Khz, try 200Khz.

It’s set to 400 but I tried each setting whilst trying to fault find. Nothing made a difference.

As stated it works fine most of the time so it’s not a settings issue.

Once it happens the only solution is to power cycle the UC400.

Is this the official support channel for CNCDrive? Or should I be emailing someone?

You may find support slower than normal given CNCdrive are based in Hungary which along with the rest of Europe is having certain restrictions placed upon it and it's workers residents etc

That being said.... Sounds like a noise problem spiking the low voltage side of your system.

Can I suggest checking your wiring and maybe sketching out the schematic as best you can and we can try to help

Thanks guys.

There's not a lot to it. It's just a UC400 connected to a DMM Breakout board which is connected to the drives.
It's all plug and play wiring and as I said most of the time it works correctly.

That being said I have had problems in the past with DMM kit and I ended up pulling it all out of a router I built years ago and replacing with Leadshine kit and a CSMIO.

I have now made the decision to do the same on this build (although I don't think the DMM kit is responsible for this particular error).

I am in the process of rebuilding the control cab with a UC300 on a UB1 board and connected to Leadshine EL5 servo drivers.
