How to tell UCCNC where the machining limits are?

Postby delta21@gmail.com » Mon Jan 06, 2020 1:20 am

Hi all
I use a mini-mill Hitorque 3990 and I am setting up UCCNC for it. You guys been very helpful especially robertspark.

So I am stuck again. Seems UCCNC doesn't know the limits of the machining area.

I have moved the axis to the very limits of the limit switches or max machining area. However, when I load a gcode, the yellow position of the cutter is not in that position where it should be according to my expectation.

Sure I have to tell that to the software the boarders.

But how do I do it?

Havent figured how to upload an pic - but I will describe. Seems to me like this is related.

So when I upload a gcode, the red lines showing the cutter path, move from x0 down approx.30mm, then to the left corner, on that same level back to the part, then up to cut.

That is kind of inverted toolpath. However, the tool path on the part cutting is correct.

Its just the GOING from x0 to further left, then back to the part on the wrong level.???

Very strange.

These movements are in your g-code. If you use a CAM program, is there a tool change position defined somewhere in your CAM?

I use Fusion 360.

I use the same code with an Shapeoko and Haas Mill. They both dont show this issue.
Its only with UCCNC.

What could it be?

It is not an issue. Your g-code file contains those movements so they are shown on the toolpath.

You can roll through the g-code line by line when the program execution is stopped and then the currently selected line is highlighted with thicker white so you can see which g-code lines are those movements and then you can investigate the issue in the file and maybe in the CAM post processor better.

So how do I tell UCCNC what the machine limits are? I want UCCNC to know what the cubic are is in which the cutter can move.

How to do that?

Or is that the wrong question?

You can setup softlimits in the axes settings.
