screen buid error

Postby blarkscnc » Sun Dec 11, 2016 7:49 am

Hi all, new to the forums and cnc. I purchased a stepcraft 2 420 about 6 months ago and have been teaching myself how to use it. My problem is everything was working ok until I re installed windows 7 on my machine as I fitted a new SSD, re installed uccnc and the stepcraft profiles that came with the machine but when I try to start uccnc with the stepcraft profile I get this error.

Screen build error:stepcraftscreenset

:?

I had windows 10 on before but I wanted to run the ssd for a performance upgrade and didn't have the win 10 files to install as the machine was bought 2nd hand and didn't come with OS software.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you get a Screen build error message then your screenset file is missing or broken.
The Stepcraft screenset is a custom screenset, it does not install with the UCCNC so after you installed the UCCNC you also have to install the Stepcraft screenset.

Thank you for the reply. I get the message after I have installed the stepcraft screenset. Does it mean that the screenset has not installed correctly or to a different location? Everything was working with the previous install but for some reason not now. :(

I don't really know, but you can verify if the Stepcraftscreenset.ssf is in the UCCNC/Screens folder.
Also you can verify if the Stepcraft screenset images are in the UCCNC/Flashscreen/BMP/Stepcraftscreenset folder.
Also you can try to run the screenset installer with admin rights, because maybe the issue is that your Windows account does not have enough rights to copy the files.
Right click on the Screenset installer .exe and select Run as admin...

Hmm ok, I think the the stepcraftscreenset is in there, but I may try the install as admin as you suggested. Any other suggestions if this fails?

I think the only possibilities are what I already told you is that screenset files are missing or broken.

When I run the compatibility troubleshooter I can get it to load and the stepcraft profiles are listed in uccnc but after closing and reloading I get the screen build error again. If I run uccnc without the stepcraft profile I should still be able to jog around correct?

Did you verify if the Stepcraftscreenset.ssf is in the UCCNC/Screens folder?

Maybe you can ZIP and upload all of your UCCNC folder here to let me check for the issue?
