Just tried an AutoCAD 2000 .dxf (From AutoCAD 2018) and it wouldn't open it. I've spent a fair amount of time trying to get files that work with it, and have not had any lock.

If it can't read .dxf files from AutoCAD, which defines the .dxf format, then it's useless to me.
As it is, it only supports a non standard (incorrect) format of .dxf file.

Actually I found the total opposite, with saving in a dxf above R12 with AC2015 UCCCAM will open, I was also wrong about the layers. Using your test file I created another layer and can generate gcode for the circle in 1 layer and generate gcode for the polylines in another. See below. I will get to the bottom of what UCCAM don't like and possibly create a UCCNC DXF converter.

Since I already have a macro that creates g-code from within AutoCAD, I don't really have a use for anything else. :)

A converter would be helpful for others, though.

I used your macro for years...Thanks.

I really don't have a need for UCCAM also and why never really experimented with it. I tried it some time back and it wouldn't open a Aspire or AutoCAD R12 dxf and never looked back. This morning I came across this thread so I gave it another try. As I previously posted I have no trouble with opening a file in UCCAM when saved from AutoCAD in 2000+ version dxf. I also exported dxf from Aspire than opened in AutoCAD and resaved and UCCAM opened it. The circles were straight lines do to it's limitations with spline but it opened. I tried in test version 08 and 49.

I too have tried many times to get a result. This is as close as I've got...
For Rhino3D try following the settings in this screenshot. I can only get some shapes to import, for example I can't get a simple rectangle to import. I could not get CorelDrawX7 or AI CS5 to export anything that worked.
I hope this helps some!

Hi Haik,

Most Cam software will export a R12/R14 dxf and I suspect this is were the trouble lies with UCCAM, I put together a converter and would like to see version and test with a Rhino and CoralDraw exported dxf, it would be much appreciated if you could post.

Hi Dan,

I've exported some simple shapes using the "Export" feature found in...
- CorelDraw X7
- Rhino3D v5
- Adobe Illustrator CS5

Each of the above apps have several DXF export options, so I made many exports and have named each DXF file per the app and its selected export option. I've also included the native file of each app (CDR, 3DM, AI).
I hope this set of files helps yout test your converter app.

Hi Haik,
Thanks for the dxf files they explain a lot. I was surprised at first to see the AC versions they were saved in but reading deeper especially when it comes to a polyline lines most resort to the r12/r14 format even though headed reads a higher format. I found the most stable/consistent results with UCCAM was with AC2004(AC1018). Must emphasize AutoCAD saved... I see Rhino uses 2004 (AC1018) but uses r12 polyline format. Lines ARC Circles are more versatile between versions and probably why a simple rectangle(polylines) gave UCCAM trouble.

I found the sweet spot dxf for UCCAM and all files you posted with conversion opened no problem, if want to give a try/test pm a email address.

Thanks for your help!
