How many is "many"? I mean, based on this thread:

...maybe two or three people at most. That's not "many". There are though quite a few "Internet experts" on that forum with strong opinions about themselves and a HUGE ego, especially considering how slow that forum actually is...

How I see this is that both the motion controller with integrated BOB and separate BOB has advantage and also disadvantage.
The advantage of the integrated solution is that everything is sure compatible and the device is compact, the disadvantage is that if anything damages can bring the whole system down and the replacement is then costy.
With the separate solution if things bought from different vendors compatibility could be an issue and some wiring is required to connect the different components, but if something damages will be likely the BOB because it isolates the signals and it connects directly with the power devices and not the motion controller and the BOB is the simpler and cheaper part mostly.

I also think that wiring between LPT compatible BOBs and our motion controllers can be done very easily and because the compatiblity is assured by the LPT compatibility of both devices there is not much to worry about when connecting them together.

Exactly. And if an all in one BOB breaks down you will hear the rage of the same people curse you for charging them all that money once again. Must be careful about such decisions.

The biggest issue here is the lack of quality breakout boards.
There are no high quality 24V I/O breakout boards available.

How about a breakout board similar to the ISOBOB that connects to the UC300ETH motherboard.
Or several single port boards, so that you have a system similar to CS Labs.
Maybe a 5V output board for motors. A 24V input board for home, limits and control buttons. And a 24V output board to drive relays.

As Terry said, if you could supply a complete setup, you'd be way ahead of the competition.

Not cheap though.... I can vouch for them on quality.

Given the number of ports and pins on a uc300 I'd suggest a stacked modular board arrangement though... With stuff like a common enable and fault connection for each drive (leadshine am882... Plus others), that way modular replacement under failure plus compact etc.

The CM106 looks nice. Have you used it?
It's cheaper then the C-62 I was looking at, but not sure about shipping it to the US.

Given the weakness in the pound check out buying it via Amazon.co.uk or ebay.co.uk.... You can score a bargain sometimes with exchange rate variance.... Why I use to buy in usd or aud cad etc via .com. .au. .com.ca etc....
Not in my favour at the moment though

Edit: watch the loading fee for currency transactions.... PayPal charge for currency conversion an so do most card companies... Mine doesn't just the daily visa exchange rate.

I personally have a cm126 (4 axis) with ess interface.... For the shelved ess... And 2 x c201 purchased at different times.

I can vouch for the quality plus noise immunity on plasma at 24v via smps.

Charge pump on the cm201 was a pain until uccnc came up with two charge pump ports and pins.... Almost got the soldering iron out....
