il try it to whatever i can- with new tooling and coolant- waiting for both to arrive!
(not usually a metal man- so havnt worked out where speeds should be yet.)

Just watched a haas video re rigid tapping- and how to make it faster.
Very nice easy to add feature of faster retract speed

Form taps are your friend for aluminum and softer metals.

Do form taps not require a lot more torque to use

Not that I notice. You use a larger hole size. The taps for me last a long time and the threads are beautiful and stronger in aluminum.

These weren't out when I went to school!
And my main work is wood- so I hadn't come across them.
I've just ordered 2 to try.
It will be interesting to see if my 1kw spindle is man enough for m6 and m8 in aluminium

I tried mine a bit faster last night.
Only 2nd ever try at machine tapping - but I was happy
And my punter for the machine can't wait to have it :-)
