3D accuracy test UCCNC

We needed an accurate 3D machining strategy but the cycle time was critical for the job. We needed the ability to machine, measure, assess cycle time, tweak the 3D toolpath parameters in order to find compromise between accuracy and cycle time.

The ability to edit the following gain factors in the UCCNC:

- Linear error max
- Linear additional lenght max
- Linear unify length max
- Corner error max

Gave us the freedom to have full control over accuracy / throughput.

If you restrict your machine to closely match the geometry of the 3D shape your are machining - there is a limit to the cycle time which will eventually be related to the max acceleration and deceleration of the motors/drive system. this is very important to consider when doing fast 3D machining. Especially with steppers. The only way to improve cycle time with maximised accuracy is to increase the acceleration capacity of your motors / drive system. For example - driving with high power servo's instead of steppers.

These settings in UCcnc are awesome. Curious what your test results came out to be? Thanks Stoney
